U13 County Cup - Boys
A young Aylesbury side faced some tough opposition in this year's County Cup tournament at Cressex on Sunday 15th March 2009. Aylesbury played well but just didn't have the strength in depth to do themselves justice. They lost convincingly to Dr Chaloner's school but, all the other games were draws or narrow defeats. Against both Milton Keynes B and Gerrards Cross Aylesbury took the lead with goals from Jack Rolfe and Chris McIntyre and were unfortunate to concede a goal to each of them late in the play.
The highlight of the day was the final game against joint favourites and eventual tournament winners Marlow. Knowing it would be a tough game, the defence was strengthened up pulling Charlie Fowler back to support Josh Penn and Robert Humpston. All of the boys played exceptionally well and, despite facing a number of short corners and almost relentless attack, they managed to keep the score down to just a 1 goal deficit. Keeper Jack Nord earned applause from the spectators as he was forced to make some spectacular saves including stretching to tip it over the crossbar and taking a shot to the head.
Teamsheet: Jack Nord, Charlie Fowler, Robert Humpston, Jack Rolfe, Josh Penn, Chris McIntyre, Thomas Richards, Charlie Shipperley, Jacques Tasker, Dominic Whaler.
