Under 14 Boys

Aylesbury 1 - 4 Southgate

Aylesbury fielded a young U14 side to face the always strong Southgate team on Sunday. Knowing it would be a hard game, the boys went in to the match with nothing to lose. As expected, Southgate pushed forward right from the start and managed to take an early lead. Aylesbury fought exceptionally hard to keep the opposition at bay and deny Southgate the full domination they might have expected. An unlucky deflection gave Southgate their second goal of the first half but Aylesbury showed great spirit, they broke free and, with some great team play set Jack Rolfe up to score.

The second half was as exciting as the first with Aylesbury defending hard and fighting all the way. Southgate however showed their strength in depth scoring two late goals as the Aylesbury teamed tired.

A great effort for the Aylesbury youngsters against one of the strongest junior hockey clubs.

Under 11s Tournament, Luton

(written by Lewis Ewers)

Aylesbury got a near win, as Welwyn wasps go out without a sting!

Aylesbury under 11’s team travelled to Luton Town Hockey Club Tournament on Sunday, on a frosty morning.

Our first game was against Welwyn Wasps, but Welwyn Wasps had no sting in their tails as they lost to Aylesbury by two goals to nil, the goals, being scored by Robyn Cumberland and Sam Hobbs.

The next game was against Harpenden, where a short corner, set up Aylesbury’s goal giving Robyn the chance of scoring for Aylesbury and putting them in the lead for a while, but unfortunately the final score was 1-1.

Shefford was the third team Aylesbury played against, this time we had two great winning goals by Sam and Dylan Lim Hon, the final score being 2-0.

The last game in our group 2 was against Broxbourne, we played really well as they were a strong team, but unfortunately we lost on this game with the final score of 1-0.

But even though we came joint 5th overall in the tournament, playing our last game with Bedford, from group 1 and drawing 0-0, the two teams in the final were Broxbourne and Harpenden, who we had played with in our previous games and only let in two goals with these two clubs overall, which showed extremely good team work throughout from Aylesbury. The day was greatly enjoyed and we would like to say also a big Thank you to Matt Kiely for standing in and being our coach/manager/referee on the day, THANKS.
