Girls U16s XI

Tring Girls U16s XI 2 - 0 Aylesbury Girls U16s XI

Aylesbury commenced the game with strong, attacking play, putting Tring under pressure from the beginning. Tring responded with confidence, returning pressure on the Aylesbury goal, which lead to a succession of short corners being awarded to Tring.  However, Aylesbury were quickly out from the corners and despite the continuous persistence from Tring, the ball was cleared by some very effective defensive play.
Aylesbury responded with a good run to the Tring goal with Lucy Potts hitting the target with her shot which forced the Tring goalkeeper to make a well-timed save. Play then moved back to the Aylesbury goal and a number of shots followed, but the efforts were denied by determined play from goalkeeper Kate Howlett keeping the scores level.
Another good Aylesbury attack put Tring’s defence under immense pressure and paid off with a short corner being awarded to Aylesbury. Unfortunately they were unable to capitalise the chance and the half time whistle was blew with the score at 0-0.
The second half saw Tring pick up their game to attack the Aylesbury defence with determination, but smart defensive work by Aylesbury prevented an early goal, but lead to a short corner which was eventually belted clear by Lauren Thomson.
Determined play in the second half kept Aylesbury in the game, and a good break and some decent passing opened up an opportunity when a fine pass from Caitlin Gillies to Hannah Isherwood went fractions wide of the goal!
Tring then really stepped up the pressure and despite some good saves by Rosemary Sherriff, their perseverance was rewarded with a goal, making the score 1-0 with all to play for. Shortly after, Tring bagged their second goal, but a determined attack by Lucy Potts in the Tring D led to a goal which was sadly disallowed. Aylesbury remained positive and continued to defend and attack with passion until the final whistle blew to end the game at 2-0.
It was a very good attempt by Aylesbury with lots of positive play both in the defence and going forward. The girls should be proud of their performance and build on it for their future games!
