Ladies 3rd XI
Aylesbury Ladies 3rd XI: 4 - Abingdon: 1
The Ladies 3rd XI see a return to fourth position in the league with a convincing 4-1 win over Abingdon. With several players not being available due to the half-term commitments, a much changed team struggled to gel and keep possession early on. The game was scrappy at times but solid work in the midfield by captain Kelly Marsh, Liz Brooks and Kirsty Dean kept Abingdon at bay. Nonetheless Aylesbury pushed forward and just couldn't get the ball into the goal with. Finally the first goal came from Steph Thomas. Two more were added by Evie Plumb before Liz Brookes got probably the best goal of the match following a great run down the right by Plumb which was fiercely crossed into the D for Brookes who raced unmarked with a perfectly timed run to sweep the ball home. The Abingdon keeper didn't stand a chance. Aylesbury will be pleased with the three points but will be mindful that their conversion of penalty corners needs work.
