Men's 1st XI

Aylesbury Men's 1st XI: 4 - Ramgarhia XI: 1

Aylesbury Men's 1st XI managed a spectacular victory against Ramgarhia, moving them solidly out of the relegation zone. The Aylesbury side gave their best performance of the season to date to cause the upset against the Ramgarhia side, who placed second in the league had already scored an impressive 65 goals to date.

The match opened with a flurry of pressure from Ramgarhia, their skillful players causing them to open the scoring and hit the post within the first ten minutes. Aylesbury rallied after the first goal, a great individual finish from Mark Ferguson drawing the teams level. The equaliser seemed to lift the team, with a spell of clever team passing that saw Ramgarhia chasing the ball. The move ended with a Kevin Bond dummy leaving Craig Spencer open at the back post to sweep the ball into the net.

This great team effort was overshadowed with an even more impressive goal later in the game. Pete Smythe broke down the Ramgarhia attack and launched a quick counter attack. A cross-field pass and young Olly Patterson found himself one on one with the keeper, but unselfishly passed to Ferguson for his second goal.

A superb individual effort by Austin Greenlee finished the game off, a quick shift of pace to beat two defenders and a confident reverse stick strike over the keeper. Aylesbury play Eastcote 2nd team next week, hoping to push closer to a mid table spot.

Men's 5th XI

Aylesbury Men's 5th XI: 1 - Ashford 5th XI: 5

An undeserved score-line marred an excellent performance by Aylesbury's 5th team. The first half proved to be a fairly even affair with both sides creating chances. Penn and McIntyre proved a handful for the Ashford defence whilst Anley and Fowler coped well in Aylesbury's back-line. Anthony Wilson's converted corner kept Aylesbury in touch but another converted penalty corner gave Ashford the edge at the turnaround. However they soon extended their lead by introducing a hard hitting senior player to the front ranks and Aylesbury were unable to withstand the bombardment succumbing once again to some higher league skills in the division's lower rung.
