20 September 2008

In the inaugural Bucks Tournament on Saturday held at the aging Milton Keynes ground, the mens first team squad returned with a bronze medal finishing third in this county wide event. Captain Dave How was delighted, so much so he threatened at one point to use his own money to buy the team a beer on the way home - as readers know to this website something that has not been seen for many a good year.

New website

2 September 2008

The new website is now up! It might be a little empty at the moment, but more content will be added over the coming weeks, with the latest news and happenings added throughout the season.

Ladies 2nd XI

The Ladies 2nd team has been promoted to the 3rd Division in the Five Counties Women's Hockey League.

Men's Badgers

Although the Badgers League is intended as a development league for the younger players, rather than being directly competitive, I am happy to say that this was the most successful male Badgers season for the club so far.

The league, organised by Gerrards Cross Hockey Club, consisted of seven teams:-

  • Gerrards Cross
  • Amersham & Chalfont
  • Tring
  • Eastcote
  • Yateley
  • Slough
  • Aylesbury

Each team played each other once and I am proud to say that Aylesbury were undefeated throughout, winning three of our games and drawing the other three.

My thanks go out to all those junior players for this season, all of whom played excellently and showed continuous improvement as the games progressed - which bodes well for our senior teams as these guys get a little older. Those players were:-

  • Richard Anley
  • Peter Atcheson
  • Tim Atcheson
  • Dan Best
  • Stephen Best
  • Will Ebsworth
  • Charlie McLaughlin
  • Ollie Paterson
  • Josh Penn
  • Jack Rolfe

In addition to that, my thanks particularly go out to those adult players that gave up their time to play, supporting and assisting the juniors throughout each and every game, setting a shining example in patience, tolerance, unselfish play and also giving the benefit of their playing experience. Those players were:-

  • Tris Anley
  • Mike Battye
  • Adam Blackwood
  • Mark Bowes
  • Ed Gurney
  • Dave How
  • Terence Kynaston
  • Dave Steven
  • Andy Sykes

Once again thanks to all the players - and those parents providing pitchside support and transport services, particulary Tania Atcheson, Graham Best and Ray Rolfe.
