THERE was double cause for celebration at Aylesbury Hockey Club recently - as the club held their annual presentation and received a prestigious award from England Hockey representatives.

The presentation took place at Meadowcroft on Sunday morning and children between 6-17 took part in a series of games before receiving trophies for their achievements this season.

On the day, individual medals were presented to Player's Player, Manager's Players and Most improved Player for each age group.

A new Chairman's award was also given to James Penson and Briony Anyon respectively - for helping coach younger age groups in addition to representing the Men's and Ladies first teams on a regular basis.

After the player presentations, Emma Hewitt from England Hockey awarded the club "Club First" status - which sees Aylesbury join an elite band of only 120 clubs to achieve the standard. Aylesbury is only the second club in Bucks to receive the award.

"Club First" status recognises the hockey club as a safe, effective and child-friendly club environment - and has involved Aylesbury strengthening and developing their coaching team over a two-year period.

Any children interested in joing the club should come along to Meadowcroft on the first Sunday on September or alternatively see club's website www.aylesburyhc.com.
