The annual contest that sees two teams battle for glory and to lift the ‘Stan How Memorial Trophy’ is back on Saturday 17th September at RAF Halton, pushing back at 3pm.

The game that started as The President’s XI versus The Chairman’s XI over a decade ago has been reformed as the annual Aylesbury 1st XI Versus Aylesbury Old Boys XI which now enters its third year.

The Old Boys XI looks to bring as many ex-Aylesbury 1st XI stars back to the club as possible, pairing them up with a few older yet still familiar current and former 1st XI players. What some of the Old Boys might lack in pace they more than make up for in experience and the games against their young pretenders, Captained once more by star keeper Stephen Best, have been absolute crackers in recent years.

With no shortage of quality and National League pedigree in the Old Boys team this year it again looks set to be an exciting game. Captain Dave How is hopeful that with one or two subs this year and a large quantity of Ralgex the Old Boys can hold on to win after the game was snatched away so late in the day last year. Watch this space for team news.

Please come along, watch and cheer on both sides for this annual celebration of Aylesbury Hockey Club past and present. A friendly it might be but pride and trophy are at stake!
