Aylesbury Mens 3s travelled to Phoenix & Ranelagh in Reading today hoping to turn things around. In spite of starting strongly and creating good early chances (Paul Slater was unlucky not to open the scoring with a deflection just in front of goal) Aylesbury contrived to concede 3 goals in quick succession as the defence went missing. Phill Collins pulled one back from Aylesbury's first short corner but no one could add to the tally. Playing much better in the second half Aylesbury created far more chances and kept Phoenix at bay until the final minutes of the game when they scored their 4th. Ideally we needed a third half, as we would surely have got back into at that point and got something from the game. Hence our plan for next week to play an extra 35 minutes of hockey before the opposition arrive.
