Men’s 3XI v Amersham

After last week's draw against fellow strugglers Sonning, Aylesbury Mens 3s came up against Amersham & Chalfont 3s at AVA today. Aylesbury started well, eventually taking the lead after Phill Collins scuffed shot from the top of the D and Paul Slater nutmegged the goalkeeper as Edmund Gurney denied all of his carnivorous instincts to not steal the goal on the line. This left us going into half time in the unusual position of leading a match for the first time since we battered Ramgharia 11-0 earlier in the season. A&C had created chances but were woeful in front of goal but the inevitable equaliser came early in the second half. Aylesbury seemed to lose focus and momentum while A&C could smell blood and pressed for a winner. Aylesbury had great chances to win from Edmund Gurney, Phill Collins and Matthew Wiggans but failed to convert, eventually seeing out a 1-1 draw. Again not a loss bu not a win. Man of the Match goes to David Skinner for a series of saves to keep us in the game and also to Jamie Jennings for sterling work in defence. DoD goes to Jamie Jennings for nearly getting sent off after losing his rag when he got tackled. Marlow next week, which is always fun.
