Mens 3s went to London to play BA Slough Ramgharia today really needing a win. Ed Gurney opened the scoring before Aylesbury conceded an equaliser. It was at about this stage that it became apparent the umpires were operating to a unique set of rules and in fact may have been umpiring a completely different game to the one being played as they awarded the goal even though the shot was taken several yards outside the D. The opposition were briefly reduced to 10 men but immediately scored to take the lead but even so Aylesbury had been playing well and went into half time very much in the game. Sadly, things deteriorated in the second half with no fewer than 7 green cards and 1 yellow (2 for newcomer Ben, a green and yellow for DoD Paul Slater, 1 for captain Stuart Mosely and the remainder for Slough BA Ramgharia.) The umpires continued to umpire according to a set of rules that discounted penalty flicks for the GK upending Ed in the D, short corners for stick tackles in the D, waist height clearances that were clearly dangerous and so on. Anyway, Ed got a second but we lost 4-2. Great opposition who were very apologetic about the poor officials. We have a must win game against Sonning next week with the loser most likely getting relegated.
