A new look Aylesbury first team took on Wallingford in their opening friendly of the season. Wallingford are in the league above Aylesbury and Aylesbury knew it was going to be a tough test. Aylesbury soaked up a lot of early pressure form Wallingford with captain Stephen Best making a number of fine saves. New central midfielder Stu Gray was beginning to take hold of the game and Aylesbury created a number of chances themselves which eventually led to the opening goal for Aylesbury’s RAF player/coach, Rob Machin. From the point of Machin’s goal, Aylesbury dominated the game. Youngsters Ben Lindars and Jeremy Kiely were demonstrating their skill and caused Wallingford a number of problems going forward.
In the second half, some good work by David Jones led to a goal for striker Chris McIntyre to make the final score 2-0 to Aylesbury. Man of the match went to defender Tim Atcheson. This was a solid team performance from Aylesbury who play West Hampstead on Saturday.
