Aylesbury travelled to West Hampstead for their final friendly before the season starts in earnest on Saturday. Former Italian international Tizanio Gallizteo made his first appearance of the season and there was also a first run out for striker Matt Hinge.
Aylesbury started well and were soon in the lead following a short corner strike from Hinge. West Hampstead then came back into the game and scored two quick fire goals to make the score 2-1 at half time. After a tough team talk from coach Rob Machin, Aylesbury flew out of the blocks and were soon back level following a further strike from Hinge who finished on his reverse. Midfielder Oli Patterson was causing West Hampstead lots of problems and was only prevented a goal following Paul Gregory’s foot on the line stopping the ball going in. Aylesbury moved into a 3-2 lead with Hinge completing his hat trick after good work from veteran Jim Usherwood.
Unfortunately Aylesbury couldn’t hold on to the lead and conceded with the last touch of the game following a fine strike from a West Hampstead forward. The game finished 3 all. Man of the match went to Hinge. Aylesbury take on Newbury at RAF Halton on Saturday.
