Winning is better without Kip

Aylesbury finally worked out that when you play a game of hockey, the aim is to score more goals than the other side. This has only taken 6 league games but no-one can pull the wool over our eyes, we are too clever for that.

In skip Kip’s absence Hunter took up the reigns and was quite frankly an unbelievable on-field captain (albeit doing much of his captaining from the subs bench).

Man of the match Patterson had clearly used his Team Sky TUE (therapeutic use exemption) for the week and was like the Duracell bunny on acid. The guy ran all day long and was head and shoulders the best player on the park. Keeper Best had come to the view that the pads he wears every week weren’t for show and actually used them which certainly helped King of Dwarfs, Bowes and Ben ‘my date for the dinner dance is [INSERT NAME]” Ireson. Austin shouted at Paul (and got himself a green) but Paul didn’t care because he was finally at peace with himself after he had got the KFC that he was waiting for since the opening game of the season. He took it in the bath (along with the iPad) and Rose wasn’t allowed any. Our Italian Stallion, Tits had a belissimo game at the back (despite having no idea what anyone said). Tim ‘Loudmouth’ Atcheson had a great game in defence and Coco (fresh from his Cirque du Soleil performance the previous evening) decided to play hockey instead of football.

Goals came from Furness (fresh from his injury at MK the following week – literally the hardest man I know) and Dan ‘I score goals from a yard’ Lindars. We decided to concede a goal in the last five minutes when Steve forgot he was the GK and let it under his foot. Special mention goes to the ‘New Bloods’ (Owen and Oli H) who between them spent 15 minutes off the pitch (naughty boys). Despite their petulance the Bloods were excellent and should be very proud that they competed and were often better than players who were double their age (and triple their height).*

All in all a very enjoyable game against a well organised and tough Maidenhead side. Aylesbury travel to Oxford Hawks next week hoping to build on this performance.

* The team decided that fines money for the week was going to go to the Bloods to go and get proper haircuts.
