Following Aylesbury’s disappointing defeat to South Berkshire the previous week, Aylesbury were looking to get their season back on track against previously undefeated Reading.
Despite a confident start with Aylesbury creating numerous opportunities, Aylesbury found themselves 1 down following a Reading short corner. This galvanised Aylesbury and they were soon level after top scorer Paul Gregory neatly finished a well worked move after good work from Tim Atcheson. At half time, the game was 1 all.
Aylesbury flew out of the blocks in the second half and created numerous problems for Reading that resulted in a further two goals for Dan Best and debutant James Gilbert with a fine reverse stick strike. Reading did claw back a consolation goal in the final few minutes but the game ended 3-2 and took Aylesbury to joint top of the league. Man of the match went to Atcheson.
Next week Aylesbury travel to Banbury.
