Aylesbury retained their place at the top of the league with a hard fought 2 all draw away to Oxford Hawks.
Aylesbury once again started slowly and slack marking meant Hawks scored an east opening goal. Despite numerous chances for Aylesbury forwards Paul Gregory and Ben Woodford, Aylesbury could not draw level and went in 1 nil down at the half time break.
The second half started poorly for Aylesbury and Hawks doubled their advantage following a well taken deflection. This second goal seemed to spring Aylesbury into life and defender Graham Thwaites scored a superb short corner goal, rifling the ball in the top left hand corner. Aylesbury were soon level after veteran Paul Gregory scored his sixth league goal of the season to bring the scores level. Aylesbury pushed for an equaliser but were unfortunate not to score and the game ended 2 all which was a fair result. Man of the match went to Graham Thwaites for his superb defensive and attacking play.
Next week Aylesbury welcome fellow promotion hopefuls Witney to RAF Halton.
