Aylesbury travelled to Marlow looking to improve on the previous week’s performance against Newbury.
Aylesbury started brightly and went 1 nil up thanks to a goal by Chris Hunter following a cross from Paul Gregory. Once again, Aylesbury switched off defensively and Marlow scored two quick fire goals to go 2-1 up in the first half. Aylesbury continued to create a number of chances and this led to veteran Dave How (in his record 40th season playing for Aylesbury Hockey Club) bringing the scores level following good work by Oli Patterson.
In the second half, Aylesbury conceded a further two goals to make the scores 4-2 going into the final 10 minutes, this despite Aylesbury dominating much of the second half. Gregory did pull a goal back but Aylesbury could not force the equaliser and went down 4-3. This was a much improved performance by Aylesbury but they know that they must improve defensively if they are going to get points out of future games.
Next week Aylesbury welcome South Berkshire to RAF Halton.
