Mens 3s faced top of the league Marlow 4s at Halton today and played a strong 70 minutes of hockey. 0-0 at half time, in spite of the pressure from Marlow, looked pretty good as they failed to convert any of their multiple short corners. Aylesbury attacked hard on the break eventually taking the lead when Edmund Gurney finished a move that included 5 Aylesbury players bu lifting the ball over the Marlow goalkeeper who'd been left on his arse. Unfortunately for Ed he then missed the ball completely at the back post from a Phill Collins pass and in the last 2 minutes shot wide from inside the p-spot. When Marlow with the last attack of the game broke into the D from the right and nutmegged David Skinner it was game over and a deserved point lost. DoD is Ed for the two misses, MoM to be advised. Beer and curry at the clubhouse tonight to take the bitter taste away.
