Aylesbury & Tring Kites v Slough

So this week Aylesbury and Tring Kites took on Slough despondents at home at AVA.

We were expecting quite a fast, high energy game against Slough. What played to our advantage were the traffic lights in Aylesbury town centre, yay part of our tactics to put the lights up ??. As this didn't give Slough enough time to warm up.

With this we played a very strong game again and got our 1st goal in the first 10mins with a classic Jamie Jennings drive down the middle, clinging to the ball. Who spotted young Joe Price hovering by the back post for Joe to simply sweep it in. Simple but effective, textbook hockey ?.

Another 10mins or so later same thing happened again Joe Price scored a 2nd goal, the lad was on fire ?.

These 2 quick goals may have rattled Slough combined with not much time to warm up as their zest for the game wasn't there.

But when Slough did regain their composure their attacks were quite skilful.

Althou this week our backline were rock solid absorbing, cancelling alot of their attacks and at their short corners. Top marks to Mark Blake and Phill Horrocks in Centre back. I was able to steal the ball alot and make attacks down the right from right back. Just before half time I made a save off the goal line with a dive to the left.

Into half time we were 3-0 up as Tim Brendt received the ball at the top of D to do his trademark ballistic missile strike 15mins or so before half time.

2nd half went 1 - 0 to Slough where they managed to nick one when we had bit of a tired moment.

Like last week we dominated on the counter attacks using the whole pitch and knocking the ball about up the pitch lovely.

Everyone played their role well, at times we lost our shape a bit but we had more zest for the game when we attacked.

2nd half our backline once again absorbed alot of Slough's attacks as they had a few useful, skillful players in the middle. At one point towards the end I was on my knees as two Slough players tried striking at the goal inthe goal mouth, 3 or 4 times they tried. Quite literally putting my body on the line to not allow them to score.

A very enjoyable game by Slough standards as they were on quite good behaviour.

Great team effort, Man of the match Mark Blake.

Oh yeah 3 - 1 Win ?????
