Playing at home against Witney 4s who were sitting just above 3s in the table this was expected to be a tough draw. With no subs we knew we were up against it and for the first five minutes Witney were lively. 10 minutes in and we had finally warmed up, with several players taking aim but it was Ella Hudson who banged it in. We started to gain the upper hand having most of the possession and attacking the goal, yet they broke, got a short-corner and Hattie Porter o’ so nearly kept it out but it trickled in. Nedissa and Sinchana turned on the skills, ploughing onto goal with some great link up work from Liz Brooks and Millie Midson-Brown, splitting their defence and a succession of goals, 2 for Nedissa, a reverse hit from Liz… wow! We started the 2nd half 4-1 up and determined to stay focus, the formidable strength of Ellie Brown working the right wing, tactically winning free hits, and creating chances for the forwards to press on goal. Witney threatened down the left but were no match for Phoebe who had an amazing game alongside Hattie. Nedissa scored again, a well-deserved hat-trick (that girl has her eye on goal!!), followed by another from Liz. With only Karen left in goal Tiz not wanting to be out done by her Twin took flight and powered through the midfield. Millie too, eager to score had several shots but alas neither could find the goal. The final goal game from Laura Cockroft, just deserves for her energy along with Ella Hudson in midfield battling and intercepting not giving up for one minute a true team performance. POM Sinchana. DOD Ellie for having no Astro turfs, turning up in crocs!
