Ladies 4’s travelled for what seemed like hours to play Newbury and Thatcham 5’s at 12.30 today At 12.31 the heavens opened and our nice shiny new away kit had a proper soaking for the entire game!
Newbury only had one threat and we kept her at bay by playing good hockey.... talking to each other, simple passes, sticking to positions and getting the ball down the field
A powerful run from Alex Collins and then Nicola Irvine resulted in a goal but then a tussle with our Phoebe LS resulting in ice on the knee meant we were down to 10 with 5 minutes of the first half left but trooper that she is she wanted to get straight back on.
Second half we held our winning position but could almost see it coming with ten minutes to go when their big hitter took position at the top of the D for a short and powered it in.
We carried on fighting and on a decent run the umpires selfishly blew the whistle meaning the final result was the 1-1 draw.
Goal from Nicola Irvine
Player of the match joint between Freya Rhys-Lodwick and Alex Collins
As with every week thanks again to our drivers x
