Aylesbury 3, St Albans 1:

The team were finding their feet in this game - an early conceded goal in the 3rd minute however, didn't knock our confidence and we defended well, particularly in the first half with Emma preventing it ending in more than 1-0. 2nd half was on the offense and lots of chances created my Matthew in the first few minutes resulted in a quick goal by him in the 11th minute. Another 1 followed at 13 minutes by Molly. Matthew snuck another quick one in just before full-time.

Aylesbury 1, Amersham and Chalfont 0:

Tougher game here, but we passed well and had a few good chances. Phoebe and Maggie defending well as a team here, preventing Amersham from getting any real chances and Matthew providing a lot of good opportunities again. They managed to hold us off until the 15th minute, when Molly got free and ran up alone to put one away.

Aylesbury 0, Gerrards Cross 4:

This game was a 6-a-side, as the other team had 6 also and we agreed to play 1 extra. First half here was promising with Molly providing some good steals and pushing up field, but Gerrards Cross quickly regained lost ground with good positional play. We managed to avoid conceding any goals until just before the first half. In the 2nd half we seemed to lose our positions and conceeded 2 further goals at the 12th minute, the 15th and a contentious one just before the final whistle. A cracking save by Maggie in her defensive position stopped this being a 5-0 defeat.
All in all, great sportsmanship and teamwork all round. Well done everyone.

Great teamwork displayed by our under 10s yesterday at West Herts. I didn't manage to get any photos unfortunately.

Team:
Will
Hannah
Xander
Ciaran
Kate

No wins today for this under 10 team, who were stretched to their limits against 3 very good division 1 teams.
Super defence from Will and Hannah kept the goal differences to a minimum. With the team finding their feet in the first game, Ciaran and Xander quickly became the two to watch, creating opportunities any time they got the ball. Tackles and defensive marking from Kate midfield kept the opposition on their toes. Hannah's persistence paid off, as she covered the whole pitch, feeding great passes into Ciaran and Xander, who converted them into at least one goal each per game. Not even the driving rain and a thumb injury could stop Will from making two valiant breaks in the final game, carrying the ball skilfully into the other team's D, only to be thwarted by the whistle each time.

Match report from Ashley Bailey. The under-10’s had their first fixtures of the season and indeed for many of them, their first ever fixtures. Hosted by St Albans the children played three fixtures; against St Albans, Amersham and Chalfont and Tring.

Team: Alfie Taylor, Elliott Jatana, Ester Gregory, Eve Bailey, Karina Jatana and Louie Rowland.

AYLESBURY 1-0 ST ALBANS
The first fixture was against hosts St Albans. Following a brief introduction of the rules, the two inexperienced teams took to the field. Against a younger team, the size advantage of Aylesbury gave the team an opportunity to take an early lead with Louie scoring a goal after just a couple of minutes. However, despite dominating play, with goal-scoring efforts from Eve and Karina, the score remained 1-0 until the end of play. A great start for the youngsters.

AYLESBURY 2-0 AMERSHAM AND CHALFONT
Game 2 took a similar shape. Good play up front from Esther created several openings and Louie was able to take advantage with a long shot to take Aylesbury into the lead. With a quick change of positions and Elliott moving into attack, busy work from Alfie created a chance that was converted by Elliott to double the lead – 2-0! An evenly contested second half saw goal-scoring chances for both teams, but none converted.

AYLESBURY 0-4 TRING
The final game saw the two strongest and unbeaten teams of the day so far against each other. Despite the best efforts of the Aylesbury team and fierce defending from all the players, the superior experience of the Tring side was quickly apparent and they took an early lead. This was a valuable learning experience for the Aylesbury team, but they had no answers to the skilled Tring team who went on to deservedly win 4-0.
