Emma Buxton
Chloe Lipscombe Stevens

Match 1
Amersham & Chalfont 6 - 0 Aylesbury:

Amersham and Chalfont, who we beat last time, seemed to dominate us this time. We were still finding our feet I think in the first game. We conceded 5 goals in the first 6 mintes. Alfie was playing well up front as were Maggie and Matthew, but A&C just seemed to have their tactics together from the off. The 2nd half started more promisingly with Chloe disrupting the A&C flow nicely and Alfie creating a couple of chances, but ultimately A&C topped it off with another goal against us and we had to chalk that one down to experience.

Match 2
St Albans 1 - 1 Aylesbury

We started this game passing well and looking like a solid team, Alfie was up front with Matthew creating a few good chances and dominating posession. Alfie had a cracking solo run up the pitch, which ended in a very near miss. He was rewarded not 2 minutes later with another opportunity which he took full advantage of with a goal in the 5th minute. We continued to dominate until we lost concentration and conceded one at 7 minutes.
The 2nd half was full of opportunities - for both sides - but none converted. Alfie stopped a critical on-target shot, and Matthew narrowly missed a well-executed shot. Alfie scored a cracking goal, but it was unfortunately just outside the 'D'.

Match 3
West Herts 4 - 1 Aylesbury

Josh started here and was getting stuck in and making a real difference, disrupting play and moving the ball forward. We conceded 2 early goals in the 2nd and 3rd minutes but quickly regained composure and passed and tackled well, possession was about 50/50 until 8 minutes in where Matthew shot a ball straight up the sideline to Alfie, who along with Josh took it into the net.
The 2nd half saw West Herts dominate and put us under a lot of pressure. Declan defended well and was vital in saving a lot of goals on the goal line, however we were overwhelmed and West Herts got another 2 in the back of our net before full-time.

Definitely feel like our efforts should have been more rewarded today, and the scoreline definitely doesn't reflect the energy and will with which we played.

Well done all.

Round 2 of this division saw Aylesbury meet last week’s rivals for the 2nd time. We had a slightly different team, and borrowed Molly from the Division 4 team to make up numbers and allow for injury/rest time.

The first game against Amersham A started well with an early attack from Ciaran and Xander. However the team were finding their feet, with some players making their debut appearance for Aylesbury so we let 7 in past us mostly due to a very fast centre forward who sprinted forward and got last taps in on shots from the half way line! Kate’s midfield tackles were always successful, and she kept the pressure up on the opposition. Arthur and Anastasia got into their groove in the second half with some superb defending. Molly took on the midfield role in the second half with excellent pitch coverage and great skills.

Game 2 vs West Herts was very strong, with a 2-1 scoreline to West Herts at half time. Some position changes and very fast running from West Herts got past Aylesbury’s defence however 5 more times, but to be fair to Aylesbury they put up a great fight and showed some brilliant potential and skills.

Game 3 vs Amersham B was another loss but Aylesbury were in no way demotivated. Molly, Ciaran and Xander created some great chances up front, resulting in the first goal of the game. In the second half, Arthur mastered the midfield while Kate and Anastasia in defence worked well with some fantastic pressure and clearances in the D. We were unfortunate to let a few past us in the second half (another pesky sprinting centre forward) but this Aylesbury team could be very strong if they continue to practice together.

Well done to all of you, and a special thanks to Molly for helping us out on the day.

Elaine has a lovely team photo from the day, and we did take some more photos this week so hopefully some can be added below.
