Under 10's played at St Albans

The under 10's played at St Albans this morning, winning two games and losing one. The team started with a great 2-0 victory against West Herts and followed it up with another successful match, beating St Albans 3-1. The last game of the day saw Aylesbury narrowly losing 2-1 to a good Amersham and Chalfont side. Everyone got thouroughly stuck in and enjoyed the first set of this season's matches. Well done all, see you again next week!
In the U10s other fixture at Tring the team put in three fantastic performances leaving with one win, one draw and an unlucky defeat.
In the first game against Rickmansworth, a hat-trick from Alfie Weston secured the win, the third a courageous goal having come back on from a painful injury caused by an “enthusiastic” opponent.
In the second game against Amersham Aylesbury dominated the game and demonstrated great teamwork but two counter-attacking goals game the opponents the points.
The third game was against hosts Tring, a much bigger side than Aylesbury, and it was Tring who took a 2-0 lead, the first from another counter-attack and the second a we’ll worked goal. Great defending by Alfie Taylor and Elsie Jacobs stopped Tring from scoring more by half time. With great determination Aylesbury came back into the game. Arthur Husbands got the first goal back and then with a couple of minutes left Alfie Weston got the equaliser. Aylesbury looked closest to winning the game with two shots cleared off the line late on that came as a result of free flowing, passing Hockey that had the crowd applauding.
Well done to all. A really encouraging start to the season and great to see such a positive attitude from all.
