Aylesbury U12 Girls League - 20 November

The U12 Girls team of Freya, Sophia, Alex, Alice, Kiera, Isabella and Iona were away at Amersham & Chalfont for league games against West Herts, Wycombe and Amersham & Chalfont

Match 1 v West Herts
Aylesbury started off strongly with the midfield of Alex, Iona and Alice combining well and linking up play nicely with Kiera upfront.
Team pressure was beginning to tell with Aylesbury having some shots on goal that were well saved by the opposition keeper. Isabella and Sophia were kept fairly quiet in defence but put in some great tackles when required. There was some further strong play by Aylesbury down the right with Alice putting through a good ball to Kiera who got in a quick shot that beat the keeper.1-0 Aylesbury! Another quick break by the midfield and some good interplay between Iona and Alex led to Iona slotting in another goal for Aylesbury. Further strong play by the team led to a second for Kiera and at half time it was 3-0 to Aylesbury. There was a slight change of formation at half time with Isabella and Sophia moving into the midfield and Alex and Alice back in defence. More Aylesbury pressure and good passing led to further goals, one more for Iona and another 1 for Kiera. Final score Aylesbury 5 - West Herts 0.

Match 2 v High Wycombe
The second match was against a stronger looking High Wycombe side. Aylesbury started again well with the ball being transferred from the defence into the midfield, and Kiera and Alex running strongly at the Wycombe defenders. Freya and the Aylesbury defence were also being kept busy with Freya shepherding the ball to safety well when it was played into the Aylesbury D. As the game progressed Alice and Sophia and Isabella were having to put in a lot of tackles and eventually the Wycombe pressure told. The ball was passed into the Aylesbury D with a strong shot just beating Freya at the near post. Heads didn't drop however with Iona in particular working really hard to win the ball in the centre of midfield. Aylesbury had a couple of shots on goal that were saved but the whistle was blown and the team had narrowly lost. Final score Aylesbury 0 - Wycombe 1.

Match 3 v Amersham & Chalfont
After the Wycombe loss the team were determined to improve their play against Amersham. From the start Aylesbury looked to spread the ball wide with Iona finding Isabella on the right and also Sophia on the left on a number of occasions. Strong running by Kiera upfront kept the Amersham defence busy and midway through the half the Aylesbury pressure told. Kiera was able to break into the D and swept the ball expertly into the far corner, 1-0 Aylesbury. Alice and Alex combined well at the back moving the ball up to the midfield quickly. Amersham did have some pressure and Freya made a strong kick to clear the danger. Iona kept tackling and passing in the centre of the pitch and found herself with time to shoot in the D, giving Aylesbury a second goal. As the second half progressed Isabella found herself unmarked on the right of the D. A strong shot led to a further Aylesbury goal.
Final score Aylesbury 3 - Amersham & Chalfont 0.
Well done to all the team! Maybe next time Iona you may get to play against West Ham rather than West Herts!!
